Hulusi is one of the unique Musical Instruments of minority nationalities in China, which is mainly popular in Dai area of West Yunnan Province. ‌ hulus‌ is composed of a whole natural gourd, three bamboo pipes and three metal reeds. The upper end of the gourd is a mouthpiece, and the three bamboo pipes connected with the lower end of the gourd are sound pipes. Hulusi has three types of high, medium and bass, and commonly used key signs are D, E, F, C, A, B and so on. ‌ hulusi type and common key ‌ : hulusi key is usually engraved on the tone tube body, the common key is D, E, F, C, A, B and so on. Knowing these key marks helps to choose the right piece of fenugreek to play.

When playing, the body should remain upright, eyes level, shoulders relaxed and naturally droping, and the mouthpiece placed in the middle of the mouth. When the finger presses the hole, the finger belly should press the sound hole, mastering the correct fingering is the key to play fenugreek.
